Profile

Kristin Kelly

Kristin began working life as a nurse in a large city hospital, later retraining and moving into preschool and early primary teaching when she had children. Kristin loves teaching, loves children, and could not imagine a more fun or rewarding career. In the past few years, she has also volunteered with the local hospice as an end-of-life biographer, an incredible privilege and rewarding in the extreme. She has worked with the sick, the very young and the dying, and these three careers have shown Kristin the importance of connection to others, meaningful contribution, and seizing the joy of life.

As a teacher, Kristin has always written books to teach topics or share stories when she hasn’t been able to find the exact book she wanted on library shelves. She has also written many class books together with her students, and has used class events to write memory books for everyone to enjoy. All available for class borrowing, of course!

This practice has now germinated Kristin’s writing career. She has recently had two children’s picture books accepted for publication, due out in 2024, and is the 2023 winner of the Storylines Joy Cowley Award for an unpublished picture book manuscript.
