Martin Baynton

Martin Baynton has been writing and illustrating children’s books for over 25 years. His publishers include Walker Books, Penguin, Scholastic and Greenwillow. Martin also works for the stage, radio, film and TV in various roles as a producer, director, screenwriter and script editor. But his first love remains writing for children.

In 2003 Martin partnered with Richard Taylor and Weta Workshop to develop and produce a TV show based on his Jane and the Dragon books. The show has won awards around the world and continues to play in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia and New Zealand.

Martin and Richard formed their own entertainment company called Pukeko Pictures. Their ambition is to produce the very best children’s TV and film in the world. They have four properties in development and their first pre-school show, ‘The WotWots’, launched in 2009 in Australia, New Zealand and the United Kingdom.
